Different Ore Levels

I have just started playing on this server and decided to make a mule. When I started mining much to my surprise there was different level of ore, and I do not mean iron, dull copper etc. Some ore was worth 2 ingots when smelted, others worth 1 and another worth 0.5.

I have not played UO in a few years so thinking this must of been a change made in that time.

Does anyone know the history on this change in relation to when or why it was done?

Personally I find it annoying as smelting takes ages now due to having 3-4 levels to smelt per ore type.

I had the same query when i first came here, in the end i didn't bother chasing it up because it didn't impact hugely on my miner. But i know exactly what you mean, it is a pain in the ass to smelt three different types (And when you have 1 of the smallest ore you can't do anything with it...)

But as far as i see it, if its either this ore, or no extra ore. I'll go with this

Is it really an issue, I can change it but do like to try and be like the real uo as much as possible.

Doesn't really cause an issue, if its too much to fix i wouldn't bother.

I'm all for getting more than less anyways, scraps are better than nothing lol
